The Washtenaw chapter of Climate Reality strongly supports Proposal C, the ballot initiative to fund affordable housing in the City of Ann Arbor. We’ve written a joint statement with five sister environmental organizations explaining how this proposal benefits our community and the climate.
In a nutshell, Proposal C would generate funds to develop more than 1,500 units of housing for people earning less than 60% of the community’s average median income, marking the most significant expansion of affordable housing in the region in over 40 years.
The Ecology Center also posted a thorough description of Proposal C on their website. It’s interesting to note that the Ann Arbor/Ypsi Regional Chamber of Commerce also endorses Proposal C — the proposal is business-friendly as well as climate-friendly.
So if you’ve been wondering what that Proposal C thing is on your ballot, I hope this post gives you some useful information. It has the potential to be a real driver of economic justice and climate action, so we urge your support.
And of course, WCR endorses VOTING, period. Make sure you vote, and if you have any questions, contact your local clerk or visit iwillvote.com. Voting is easier than ever in Michigan, but the new processes sometimes are confusing. So keep at it until you’ve cast your ballot!
